Jeanne Bessette Brings 'storyTELLING' to Mirada Fine Art

Named one of the ‘top emerging artists to watch’ by Art Business News, Jeanne Bessette’s vibrant contemporary paintings touch the viewer’s soul.

Jeanne Bessette’s internationally recognized figures depict the wild and mysterious circus of our dreams and passions.  At heart she is a storyteller who, in her own words, ‘scribbles, writes, and plays' with paint until her stories emerge.  Her brilliant use of color and texture entices all to reach out and touch them.   On Friday night, November 9th, Bessette unveils her first Colorado exhibition, ‘storyTELLING,’ at Mirada Fine Art.

Painting for artist Jeanne Bessette is not an occupation, it’s a preoccupation.  She never starts a piece without an intention in mind and a message to communicate.  The vivid abstract figures become friends, reminding her, and all viewers, that “we are safe, we are connected, and we are all ok.”

Jeanne received her first art kit at the age of four.  She hung her masterpieces all over the family home.  This early inspiration lead to a natural progression studying studio art.  Bessette graduated from the New England School of Photography, and for thirteen years owned and operated a highly successful photography studio.   She sought out master teachers to relearn the tools of her true passion, painting.  With her extensive background in photography, the works Ms. Bessette creates demonstrate tremendous strength in color, composition and light.  Her multimedia pieces occasionally incorporate burlap and corrugated cardboard.  She layers paint, textural pieces, varnish and her proprietary glazing formula until the perfect combination of translucency and vividness she’s striving for is achieved.

“Painting helps me find peace with myself and the world we live in,” states Bessette.   “A day in the studio often feels like a therapy session.  So when you see my work, you will learn something about me.”

Pablo Milan at Mirada Fine Art, southwestern LAYERS

Pablo Milan at Mirada Fine Art, 9.21.2012

We had an amazing opening night at Mirada Fine Art for Pablo Milan's new exhibition, 'southwestern LAYERS.'  The images of Pablo's southwestern heritage explode onto the canvas with loose brushstrokes revealing expressionistic versions of horsemen, danvers, and warriors.  His prestigious resume includes highlights such as 'Spanish Artist of the Year.'  If you weren't able to make the opening, you can still see the entire exhibit through October 14th.

In 2010, Mirada Fine Art was absolutely thrilled to bring legendary southwestern artist Pablo Milan to Colorado for our very first solo exhition.  On September 21st,  Mr. Milan returns to Colorado to again unveil a brand new exhibit, 'Southwestern Layers.'  This remarkable exhibition will highlight Milan’s mastery of expressionistic art, with his traditional subjects of Native American horsemen, dancers and warriors, depicted in a very non-traditional manner.

As one of the Southwest’s most prominent and recognized artists, Pablo Milan has long been viewed as highly collectible.  His distinctive contemporary look is known for its bright and powerful style.  Mr. Milan draws from his New Mexican heritage, seamlessly incorporating Latin American figures with Native American scenes into his paintings.  A fifth-generation New Mexican, Pablo Milan literally has been immersed in the rich culture of the Four Corners area his entire life.  The huge influence of, and respect for, Native Americans is clearly reflected in his pieces.  Much of his subject matter is drawn from his experiences watching the dances and ceremonies at the Pueblo of Laguna.  Incorporating broad brushstrokes, delicate washes and heavy textures, almost ghostly horsemen and their animals emerge from his expressionistic pieces.

“I have a great respect for Native Americans, what they have done, and what they have tried to teach us,” Milan has said.  “My use of color shows the power, boldness and beauty of the culture.  I exaggerate those elements to make them the center of attention.”  He is less interested in representing the figures literally than conveying the feeling of what he paints.  The intense variations of color and hue evident in his pieces place focus on the colorful spirit and environment of his heritage and Santa Fe home.

Mr. Milan’s works are enjoyed in private and corporate collections throughout the world. Over a long and prestigious career, he has garnered innumerable awards, including Spanish Artist of the Year.

Lyudmila Agrich at Mirada Fine Art, near Denver, Colorado

Lyudmila Agrich at Mirada Fine Art, Walk in the Rain, Oil on Canvas, 24" x 24"

We are absolutely thrilled to introduce our newest artist to Mirada Fine Art, Lyudmila Agrich.  Lyudmila was born in Russia, and spent much of her childhood in the beautiful city of Odessa by the Black Sea.  She spent several years in musical school and the school of fine arts for children, and eventually received a bachelor degree in Architecture and Fine Arts. After practicing architecture for a few years in the Ukraine, she moved to the United States, and in 2001 decided that her true calling was as a full-time artist.

Lyudmila Agrich at Mirada Fine Art, Crossing Busy Street, Oil on Canvas, 24" x 36"

Lyudmila replaced her paintbrush with a palette knife in order to create bolder, brighter images. Her style is expressionistic impressionism, and her primary focus is to capture intimate moments in ordinary life.  No matter what she is painting, whether it be a landscape or a small cafe, she wants her paintings to speak in the language of human feelings.

Definitely come by Mirada Fine Art to see Lyudmila's work in person...the photos don't do them justice.  The texture and movement will amaze you!
