In all of his paintings,
Arizona-based artist Bruce Marion strives to reflect an inner light that gleams
through what he refers to as an 'external reality.' His newest body of work, to
be unveiled at Mirada Fine Art on Friday night, May 10th, is entitled 'inner
LIGHT' and reveals a tremendous understanding of that glow, and the outstanding
technical skills necessary to reflect it.

We hope you will come meet
Bruce as he unveils 'inner LIGHT' and see firsthand why American Art Collector
magazine chose it as one of their featured exhibitions nationwide for the month
of May.Classically trained at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in
California, Mr. Marion employs a technique originally developed by the Masters.
They typically covered their canvas with a 'mid-tone' such as umber and then
developed their images by building upon that color, while simultaneously taking
away color to convey light and shadow. Similarly, Bruce starts his process by
completely covering a white canvas with a free-form layer of frenetic color. He
builds upon that color, and like a sculptor chipping away at stone, 'subtracts'
color to let the light of his image show through. He follows the painting and
allows it to develop, rather than trying to impose a pre-determined plan. The
result? Gloriously gleaming landscapes, figures, cityscapes and abstract
acrylic paintings, rich with light, shadow and texture.

Many years as an illustrator
honed Bruce Marion's fine art skills. He then had to teach himself to let go of
some of that and allow color and form to emerge. "Being able to
successfully reach people through art demands a duality of character,"
Bruce has said. "You have to be disciplined enough to show up and start
working, then you have to allow the inspiration to come to you, and smart
enough to recognize that inspiration and go with it."

Marion is an artist to the core. At the tender age of nine, he sold his first
piece in a juried professional show. While working on his Bachelor of Fine Arts,
he had the opportunity to study with world-renowned artist Pat Nagel, and the
father of Post-Surrealism, Lorser Feitelson. He has taught at several art
institutes, and his work is prized in both private and public collections
throughout the country.
