At the age of 5, Deladier saw a film that documented Leonardo da Vinci’s process of painting the Mona Lisa. “I understood then and there the magic of transforming a flat surface to create a three-dimensional image. I immediately began drawing my family, and became notorious for demanding that my relatives sit for me.” Gazing into any of Deladier’s paintings today, it is apparent that lesson was deeply ingrained.
Living in Northern California since 1985, Deladier earned his BFA in Studio Art at UC Davis, studying under Wayne Thiebaud and Roland Petersen. Although Deladier paints a broad array of subjects, he is most famous for his richly textured oil landscapes that are painted from an aerial perspective. “When I came to the U.S., it was my first time in an airplane. I was looking out the window and seeing all the richness of that point of view. People were just sitting there missing the show and I wanted to stand up and yell, ‘Look, look out the window, it’s fabulous!”

Mirada Fine Art is proud to currently hang Deladier's remarkable work on our gallery walls and we are absolutely thrilled about Deladier's upcoming solo exhibition here in the Fall. This upcoming month Deladier is coming to Colorado for the first time in his life and we will be getting him up on a helicopter to survey the Colorado Rockies from his famous 'aerial perspective.' He will be taking photographs and immersing himself in our remarkable landscape. Over the following months we will be creating a brand new exhibition based on this experience. Deladier's exhibition, 'Geometry of the Rockies,' will debut on October 14th. Don't wait until then - come to Mirada Fine Art right now and you can see current works by Deladier hanging on our walls.
You can also see Deladier in Southwest Art magazine next month - he will be the cover artist in their July 2011 edition.
